Antigonish bagpiper performing in Scotland

Antigonisher’s have always been particularly fond of bagpiping, and the small Nova Scotia town in which I am from has produced more than a few great pipers over the past century. Our Highland Scottish heritage flows deep and we seem to be able to produce some very fine pipers.  One of the best today is Andrea Boyd. Currently Andrea is a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band and recently joined the National Piping Centre in Glasgow, Scotland as the new development officer.

Andrea began the pipes in Antigonish in 1992 and has steadily risen through the ranks. For a biography of Andrea’s career (to 2002) you can read this write-up by Scott Williams, PM of the Clan Thompson Pipe Band in Nova Scotia. As for her music, check out this YouTube video from a pub in Scotland. This was shot on a mobile phone, so the production quality isn’t great, but the piping is excellent.

Enjoy!
