Vancouver bagpipers and band have winning weekend in Costa Mesa, California

(The following post is from the Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band website, which can be found here.)

The Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band had a winning 2010 Memorial Day weekend in only their second appearance at ScotsFest in Costa Mesa, California.

Saturday’s Grade One Medley competition resulted in a second place (scores: 2,1,2,2) finish for the band, behind LA Scots (1,3,1,1) and ahead of Alberta Caledonia (3,2,3,3) Pipe Bands. But Sunday’s MSR competition saw a win for Triumph Street (1,1,1,2) ahead of LA Scots (2,3,3,1) and Alberta Caledonia (3,2,2,3). Aggregate points were DTSPB (12),  LA Scots (14) and Alberta Caledonia (21). Way to go DTSPB for winning the piping this weekend, as well as the overall aggregate for Grade One!

In solo competitions, DTSPB piper Scott Wood was the Grade 1 Solo Piping and Silver Chanter Winner.  He placed 1st in the Piobaireachd, 1st in H/J, and 2nd in MSR, winning the overall aggregate and Silver Chanter. As well, DTSPB’s Eli Fugate was the Winner of the Professional Drumming class, winning 1st in MSR, and 1st in H/J.

What a successful start to the 2010 outdoor competition season!

We look forward to seeing the band compete close to home at the Bellingham Highland Games in Ferndale this Saturday.
